Jane Wolff was born in Cape Town, moving to Durban when she was in her early teens. She schooled in Durban North, left South Africa at 18 to live in England for 2 years, before returning to South Africa to study at tertiary level. Her first instinct was to find a practical outlet for her creativity, and studied graphic design as a short-course, worked in the industry for a year, and then realizing that she could never spend the rest of her life behind a computer, she dove into the world of fashion, earning her degree at The Durban University of Technology.
Jane then lectured at DUT for 2 years before leaving to build her bridal business "McCarthyWolff" in 2012, which she co-owns with her business partner, Dale McCarthy, also based in Durban. The company focuses on high-end, uniquely feminine and fairytale gowns.
In 2017 Jane began exploring with painting, and after years of honing her unique style through design, she found her voice in the art world.
"I began painting when I realized I had more to give, more to show the world, I don’t know why I do it, it just feels right..."
"My greatest desire is that the person who owns one of my paintings falls in love with it, feels a connection to it and that the artwork creates a feeling in their space that lasts. That is my purpose, sharing the connection."
